چکیده

Abstract— The spectral efficiency of large CDMA systems using higher order modulation schemes is investigated. Therefore, the asymptotic analysis for single cell systems and random spreading codes is used to obtain the signal-to-interference-andnoise ratio (SINR) after the Matched Filter (MF) and Linear Minimum Mean-Squared-Error (LMMSE) receiver. Then the concepts of capacity and cut-off rate are applied to determine the optimum spectral efficiency with coding and modulation. It is shown that with a MF receiver higher order modulation in combination with coding has no advantage. In contrast, beyond a particular signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) threshold the spectral efficiency of a CDMA system can be improved with larger constellations when deploying an LMMSE receiver. Depending on the SNR an optimum modulation scheme exists, which was shown for a number of QAM constellations.

On the Outage Probability of Large DS-CDMA Systems Using Higher Order Modulation

The outage behavior of a single cell DS-CDMA system using higher order modulation schemes is investigated for the uplink in presence of flat Rayleigh fading channels. For this purpose, the results of the asymptotic analysis for large CDMA systems with random spreading codes are used to obtain the signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio after the linear minimum mean-squared-error receiver. An Efficient Hierarchical Modulation based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Transmission Scheme for Digital Video Broadcasting

Due to the increase of users the efficient usage of spectrum plays an important role in digital terrestrial television networks. In digital video broadcasting, local and global content are transmitted by single frequency network and multifrequency network respectively. Multifrequency network support transmission of global content and it consumes large spectrum. Similarly local content are well ...

Comparison between Multi-Code Transmission and Multi-Level Modulation in the DS-CDMA Uplink

The system spectral efficiency is considered for the single-cell DS-CDMA uplink with random spreading and flat Rayleigh fading channels. Based on the asymptotic analysis for large systems, the signal-to-interferenceand-noise ratio after the linear minimum mean-squarederror detector is determined analytically for multi-code transmission. This measure is used to obtain the maximum rate and thus e...

Mc/ds-cdma versus Sc/ds-cdma in Mobile Radio: Spectral Efficiency Approach

The spectral efficiency of a multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (MC/DS-CDMA) cellular system operating in a mobile radio environment with Rayleigh fading, is investigated. In this work, spectral efficiency is evaluated in terms of channel capacity (in the Shannon sense) per user, estimated in an average sense. It is analytically shown that, under normalized conditions an...
